Compensation Scheme of German Banks (EdB) issues warning about increasing numbers of fake e-mails in circulation requesting payments. More information here.
Warning about fake email
We have recently been receiving increasing numbers of enquiries regarding e-mails that appear to have been sent by the Compensation Scheme of German Private Banks (EdB). These e-mails promise recipients compensation payments if they transfer an insurance premium or similar in advance. The e-mail addresses being used are similar to those of the EdB.
In accordance with its remit, the EdB only makes compensation payments to depositors of a bank where BaFin has determined that compensation is payable. When this happens, the EdB will contact the bank customers concerned directly and let them know how to proceed.
It is important to note here: The EdB will never request the payment of money in return for compensation.
BaFin also issues warnings about fraudulent activities.
If you are unsure, please call us directly on +49 (30) 5900 11 960 or send an e-mail to info@edb-banken.de.
